Notes on Usage

If you want to talk about ferries in the plural, then le ferry can become either les ferrys or les ferries, according to the Dictionnaire Larousse – so you can choose the form you prefer as both are correct.

Le scooter can also be referred to in the more French sounding version, la trottinette.

Finally, although la voiture most often means ‘car,’ and this is the translation most often taught, note that it can also mean ‘vehicle,’ ‘coach’ or ‘carriage.’
